The initial data collection and field observation process is being conducted collaboratively with a research colleague holding a bachelor's degree (S-1) who is currently residing and working in Hong Kong. This early synergy is designed to build a strong research methodology grounded in empirical experience, objectively capturing the socio-economic realities of migrant workers up close.
Initial Focus of Data Collection and Analysis
In this early stage of research, the main focus is directed toward mapping several critical aspects frequently experienced by workers on the ground, including:
-
Existence and Field Dynamics: Portraying the resilience of migrant workers as they navigate social and professional life in Hong Kong.
-
Contractual Alignment and Work Boundaries: Identifying discrepancies between written employment clauses and actual workloads, including working hours and the fulfillment of basic rights.
-
Stigma and Social Reality: Analyzing cultural friction, public perception, and the complexity of inter-community relations within the urban environment.
Commitment to Research Ethics
Given that this project is in its early stages (on-progress), all interviews, observations, and drafting processes are being conducted under strict research ethics standards. The confidentiality of informants and related parties is fully protected to ensure that all gathered narratives remain objective, secure, and ethical.
The initiation of The Blue Contract Chronicles book project is expected to develop into a comprehensive literary work, offering a fresh and honest perspective for the public, academics, and stakeholders alike.
